Our average review time is usually 10-14 days, but we ask that you allow us a minimum of 30 days to comfortably commit to a timeline. If you have a specific time frame you would like our review to be published, please indicate that when submitting your request. Otherwise, our reviews are posted shortly after we have completed the book. We do our best to accommodate specific requests, but cannot guarantee them depending on the demand.

We consider multiple elements of a book when determining an overall star rating. Each category is individually rated and then collectively averaged to determine the book’s overall Star Rating.

Love! Fantastic book with a solid plot and amazing characters. Immersive or multi-dimensional elements, well paced, and highly engaging with excellent writing and execution. We’ll be raving about this one for a long, long time!

Impressive. Great book with a strong plot and well developed characters. Any deficiencies are minor and are easily overlooked and forgivable. Would recommend to relevant readers.

Good. Enjoyable book that held our interest. Contains quality elements but development or execution could use improvements.

Meh. It was OK. Writing was inconsistent or the book’s intent seemed unclear at times. May have decent elements but unexciting qualities that felt disjointed, repetitive, excessive or confusing.

Ouch. Disliked the book and struggled to finish it. There were major issues regarding the plot, characters, execution, writing, or grammar, and it’s structure and development were minimal or nonexistent.
Half Stars
We use half stars in our ratings, but will round up when posting to other sites that do not support them (such as Amazon and Goodreads).
Sometimes, there are those books that we just can’t live without. The ones we absolutely love and will happily talk about every day for the rest of your life. We showcase these special books with our BookeryBliss Favorites badge of awesomeness.

Reviewer Ranking Highlights:
• We are in the top 1% of reviewers on BookSirens, based on review volume.
• We are in the top 10% of diverse reviewers based on reading diversity, although we tend to review Fiction, Mystery, Fantasy, and Horror the most.
• In fact, we are in the top 5% of Horror reviewers on BookSirens, top 5% of Action / Adventure, top 1% of Children/Middle Grade/YA books, and top 10% of Historical Fiction. Now that’s what we call diverse reading!
• We review books from small presses, top 5 presses, large presses, and self publishers, and in the top 1% of reviewers who review books from large presses, based on review volume.
• We tend to rate books from small presses the highest, on average, with an average rating of 3.9
• Book popularity and book length do not impact our ratings.

Did you submit a request but haven’t heard from us?
Although we try our best to reply to every email we receive, it’s not always possible to do so. If you have submitted a request and have not heard from us within 30 business days, please assume that we have either denied the request or we are unable to reasonably meet the specific requirements of your request at this time.
Outreach & Engagement Opportunities
Giveaways
We are open to hosting and/or collaborating giveaways on our website and/or social media accounts whenever possible. If you are interested in offering your book as a giveaway to our readers, please select that option on the application form.
Author interviews
We love interviewing authors and do our best to provide them. We typically interview authors in a written Q&A format, but will also host live, pre-recorded, or small group discussions upon request. If you are interested in an Author Interview, please select that option on the application form.
Note: Outreach and engagement opportunities are selected on a case by case basis and largely dependent on schedule availability. While we do our best to accommodate these requests, there is no guarantee they will be provided.
Statement
BookeryBliss reserves the right to decline a request for any reason. This includes, but is not limited to: (1) Book does not interest us. (2) We are not able to complete the review before the requested deadline. (3) Personal preferences.
Our acceptance of a book does not guarantee a review. Reasons for not posting a review may include, but is not limited to: (1) Posting the review may result in targeted attacks or makes us uncomfortable in any way. (2) The book doesn’t spark sufficient input that prompts a quality review. (3) We did not read a book far enough to offer any feedback.
We post honest reviews. By submitting a review request, you are acknowledging that our reviews are our own and will kindly respect our experiences as such. This includes the possibility that our review may be negative, or less than ideal for what you’re looking for. We review books, not the authors. We will always remain respectful to the author and kindly ask for the same in return. We do offer the courtesy of contacting you first if we give it 2 stars or less prior to posting the review, and often will not post the review at all unless you ask us to do so.
We do not accept any paid reviews. There are many book bloggers our there who would love to get paid to read free books, but we are not one them. We insist on voluntary feedback to ensure the most honest review possible. We know how hard you’ve worked to get here and assume that you are interested in honest feedback to help better your writing career and provide sincerity to those who may invest in your work. Because of this, any paid contribution offers sent to us will automatically be declined.
