The Stand
Rating:

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides -- or are chosen.

This book is my favorite of King’s work. He has a talent to induce terror and this is certainly no exception.
Although King only lives about 30 minutes from my home and often seen in local coffee shops, I have never had the opportunity to actually meet him (although I HAVE seen him in said coffee shops, but it just felt wrong imposing on him and his reading…. yes, he’s found reading. A LOT.)
Anyways, King has signed my mom’s first edition, uncut book of “The Stand” and it will eventually be passed down to me one day. I’m already reserving a special spot for that book on my bookshelves.
